Maori time

Kia Ora, Tēnā koutou

It was Maori language week. I learnt about Maui and Maori legends. I did a poem about Maui and the legends he is in. I did a pepeha about my family and me and a greeting video with my dad. My dad and I did a 'rakau stick' dance and we made a kite for Maori language week. I also did a writing about Maui.

I did some PE activities. I did 'whai'. Whai is a game that you do with a piece of string. Whai is also known as string magic. I did a shoe tower making game and 'toka pepa kuti'. Toka pepa kuti is rock paper scissors.

These are the games that I played:

Shoe tower

Toka pepa kuti

Hipitoitoi

Poem about Maui

Maui

Maui is my favorite character from the eight legends.

Maui comes from the legends: The Fish of Maui. The second legend he comes from is: How Maui Slowed the Sun.

I like Maui because he is strong because he fished up the north island for the people of Hawaiki and is helpful to the people of Hawaiki. He always tries to show who he is and he always works on his target and goal. His target is to show who he is because his brothers don't treat him nicely.

Writing about Maui

I enjoyed making the kite because it was challenging to find the right sized paper. My next steps is to do the work quickly and take less time. My work reflected my learning by learning new things about the maori history, culture clothes and traditions.
